The care team gets to know patients’ individual health needs, learn about their health history, keeps track of any medications they are taking, and works with them to create a personal care plan.

Prior to her current endeavours, Dr. Welsh served as the Co-Director of Family Planning at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center (2012 – 2015) and then as the Regional Director of Women’s Health at Hudson River Health (2016 – 2019).

A 2002 graduate of SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, Dr. Welsh went on to perform her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the same educational venue. Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics and gynecology. An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health.

An authority in her field, Dr. Welsh attributes her success to the drive that she has to improve the landscape of maternal morbidity in the black and brown community. With every level of success, she has had the ability to have more effect on change.

Outside of practicing medicine, she enjoys running. Her favorite place to vacation is in Aruba and her favorite professional publication is Harvard Business Review.
