Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Robert F. Tassan, who serves patients throughout the State of New Jersey.

A highly trained hematologist-oncologist, Dr. Tassan has been treating patients in Bergen County for more than 8 years. He is currently affiliated with Regional Cancer Care Associates, seeing patients at their offices in Franklin Lakes and Westwood, New Jersey.

With over 20 locations throughout New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, and the Washington, DC area, the cancer and blood disorder specialists at Regional Cancer Care Associates offer world-class care close to home, so that patients can focus on the most important thing in the world – their health.

Pertaining to his educational pursuits, Dr. Tassan graduated with his medical degree from the UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He then went on to further his training by completing a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology/medical oncology at the UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Manhattan College.

As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in hematology, medical oncology, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In his professional experience, he has admitting privileges at HMH Hackensack University Medical Center and Pascack Valley Medical Center, and serves as an associate of the Advisory Board for Physician Leadership Development at The Valley Hospital.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, and sickle-cell disease.

Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Tassan has been the recipient of the Melvyn H. Motolinsky Outstanding Fellow Award.
