At the start of his academic career, Dr. Holliday earned his medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. in 1992. He then went on to complete his internship in internal medicine and his residency in anesthesiology at George Washington University Hospital.

Alongside his clinical practice, he serves as an Instructor of Anesthesiology at Howard University College of Medicine.

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine.
