Get to know Physiatrist Dr. Mark Joseph Brennan, who serves patients in Clinton Township, Michigan.

Dr. Brennan is an attentive athletic physiatrist who specializes in the rehabilitation of patients with brain, spine, joint, nerve, and muscle disorders. Seeing patients ranging from teenagers to geriatrics, he is the Director of Wellness Physical Medicine Center in Clinton Township, Michigan.

Some of the services that he offers include: consultations that provide accurate diagnoses and treatment plans for all muscle, bone, and joint conditions; EMG/NCV and SSEP studies; injections for trigger points, joint, and nerve blocks; pre and post-surgical rehabilitation to back and neck and all joints; treatment of work-related injuries for patients receiving workers compensation; and treatment for motor vehicle accident injuries for patients with open payable claims.

With 30 years of experience, his practice has built the reputation of getting people better when many other clinics have failed. Working with the physical therapy staff, he can restore lost function by addressing pain and inflammation, thereby increasing range of motion allowing for improvements in strength and conditioning. 

In the state of Michigan, Dr. Brennan is affiliated with Beaumont Hospital, Troy; Beaumont Hospital, Dearborn; Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital; Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital; McLaren Macomb; DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital; and Henry Ford Macomb Hospital – Clinton Township.

His memberships in professional medical societies include: the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Michigan Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, the American Academy of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the American Running & Fitness Association, the American Medical Association, the Michigan State Medical Society, the Oakland Medical Society, and the Macomb County Medical Society.

A 1984 graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine, Dr. Brennan went on to further his training. He served his internship in internal medicine and his residency in physical medicine & rehabilitation at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak in 1985 and 1988, respectively. 

Rending extraordinary rehabilitation success, he is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning.

Offering accurate, quick, and comfortable EMGs within 48 hours, Dr. Brennan is also board-certified in electrodiagnostic medicine by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM promotes high quality patient care by overseeing a certification process that requires physicians to obtain specific academic training and clinical experience, then demonstrate competency in the EDX evaluation of neuromuscular and musculoskeletal systems by passing a comprehensive examination.
