Dr. Hagarty is an experienced plastic surgeon practicing at Rockford Ambulatory Surgery Center, OSF St Anthony Hospital, Swedish American Hospital, and Rockford Memorial Hospital. 

Dr. Hagarty focuses primarily on Plastic Reconstructive & Cosmetic Surgery. She performs both reconstructive procedures that restore form and function, as well as cosmetic medicine and surgery to enhance one’s appearance. Improving aesthetic, symmetry and proportion are key goals in cosmetic surgery, focusing on enhancing one’s natural beauty and aesthetics, as well as anti-aging. As a mother of three she brings a unique woman’s perspective and compassion to her patients.Women understand women.

She also is a professor of surgery, researcher, and innovator in medical devices and surgery. She has presented at several international meetings and has patents pending and granted by the US Patent and Trade Office for a novel method of high volume fat transfer, which means  taking fat from one area of the body and grafting it to another site. She developed a method that is faster and safer than standard techniques. It also optimizes the viability of the fat cells. 

A graduate of the prestigious Medical School at  McGill University in Montreal, Canada in 1997. Dr. Hagarty went on to study general surgery at McGill and then further to Plastic Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago. 

Following her training, she was board certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in General Surgery in 2002, and in Plastic Surgery in 2007. She was also board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 2008, and recertified in 2018. The ABPS is one of 24 medical specialty boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). Through ABMS, the boards work together to establish common standards for physicians to achieve and maintain board certification. The boards were founded by their respective specialties to protect the public by assessing and certifying doctors who meet specific educational, training and professional requirements. 

Dr. Hagarty speaks both English and French.
