It really depends on your ability to maintain oral hygiene. Some people may need a cleaning every 3 months. Generally, adults should get their cleanings somewhere between 3 and 6 months depending on their circumstances to avoid excessive tartar build-up and gum disease. READ MORE
Is chlorhexidine good for gum disease?
Chlorhexidine is helpful for treating gum disease in conjunction with scaling and root planing or other in-office treatment. It can cause teeth to stain and affect the taste, so it's not advisable in all cases. READ MORE
Can you get an implant without a bone graft?
Yes, depending on the condition of the extraction site and existing bone. READ MORE
Is ibuprofen good for toothache?
Ibuprofen helps decrease inflammation associated with tooth and gum pain but the tooth should be treated by a dentist ASAP. READ MORE
How painful is it to get a dental crown?
It shouldn't really be painful if you get numb. You may have some pressure and discomfort around your gums for part of the procedure. READ MORE
Low body temp with abscess infection?
Your body temperature doesn't sound like a concern, but you should get the abscess checked out by a dentist as soon as possible. READ MORE
Can a dental bridge cause tooth damage?

Is it normal for gums to hurt after a filling?
There can be some mild aching of gums after a filling. Drilling and placing a band and wedge can irritate the gums for several days. If so you can rinse with warm salt water to decrease the inflammation. If any severe pain or swelling, you should go back and see your dentist to rule out other problems. READ MORE
How do you close a gap in your teeth without orthodontics?
The dentist could make your teeth wider, but that could cause other problems, making it difficult to clean under overhanging bonded restorations and possibly not the right esthetic appearance. READ MORE
Does placing a crown on an implant hurt?
It shouldn't really hurt. You may feel some pressure on tightening with the wrench. Any pain beyond that could be a sign of tissue interference blocking the seating of the crown. READ MORE
Is Listerine bad for bleeding gums?
No. Listerine could help decrease gum inflammation/bleeding by killing the bacteria that cause it. It will not allow you to avoid gum bleeding by itself. You will need to maintain oral hygiene with brushing and flossing (or water flossing) and any built up tartar would need to be cleaned professionally by a dentist or hygienist. READ MORE
Can a dentist do a gum graft?
Normally that would be done by a periodontist- a gum specialist. READ MORE
What are my options for replacing a missing front tooth?
A molar is a back tooth. Either way to replace a missing tooth you can get an implant or partial denture. I don't generally recommend a bridge because that would involve cutting down adjacent teeth and will be much harder to maintain and keep clean. READ MORE
Is a flipper the same as a partial denture?
A flipper generally refers specifically to a single tooth acrylic partial denture. READ MORE

Whitening strips will not affect the shade of bonded teeth. READ MORE

Only if it is small enough to be reversible with fluoride can you make it go away with brushing and flossing. If it's big enough for you to see it, you probably need to get it treated by the dentist. READ MORE
Can a filling last forever?
It's possible depending on the quality and circumstances of the filling and your home care. READ MORE
