With a broad educational background, Dr. Rifka earned his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at the American University of Beirut. He went through both his internship and residency at the American University Hospital in Lebanon before relocating to the United States. Not only did he complete additional fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility through the National Institutes of Health, he opted to enhance his education and experience even further.
Thereafter, he went on to finish his board certification through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is currently board-certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI), as well as in obstetrics and gynecology. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) is a surgical subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology that trains physicians in reproductive medicine addressing hormonal functioning as it pertains to the reproduction, as well as the issue of infertility. While most REI specialists primarily focus on the treatment of infertility, reproductive endocrinologists are trained to also evaluate and treat hormonal dysfunctions in females and males outside after the reproductive years.
As a trusted leader in reproductive health, Dr. Rifka has published numerous peer-reviewed studies on the effects of hormones on the male and female reproductive systems. In 2016, he was recognized as one of Washingtonian Magazine’s Top Doctors.
