  • How effective is turmeric to cure a ringworm infection?

I don't typically think of turmeric when I'm considering natural anti-fungal. My work would start in the gut with stool testing for dysbiosis and then treatment accordingly. Please feel free to reach out to my clinic if you'd like a consultation. READ MORE

  • What natural treatments are there for high blood pressure?

There are a lot of approaches I take for blood pressure. The biggest question is: What's the cause? I work with my patients to dig into this question and as we uncover the answer, the main goal is to correct those factors. That may include nutritional changes, stress management, lifestyle modifications, herbal remedies, or nutraceuticals. Since I see each patient as a unique constellation of experience, symptoms, and conditions, I wouldn't be able to get more specific to your situation without taking your case and fully understanding what your body needs. Give my office a call if you'd like to dig deeper into this. READ MORE

  • What homeopathic treatments are there for a sore throat?

Homeopathic medicine is a specific type of therapeutic intervention that is based on the entire picture of a patient, rather than just the symptoms. While there are many remedies that can be useful for sore throat, only the remedy that best matches you as a whole person will be the most effective for your needs. Consider calling a homeopathic practitioner in your area if this is the intervention you're most interested in exploring. If you are interested in a wide naturopathic lens, give my office a call to see about scheduling an appointment so we can help you out! READ MORE

  • Are there any natural methods to fix diarrhea?

There are many natural approaches. The biggest question is: Why is the diarrhea happening in the first place? The primary goal would be remove the cause. This could be dietary changes, a microbiome imbalance in the gut, inflammation or maldigestion. You would need a more thorough workup to determine which, and then naturopathic treatment modalities can be applied after that, according to your individual needs. Give my clinic a call if you'd like to set up a consultation. READ MORE

  • Can you fix chronic shoulder joint pain?

I would recommend looking into regenerative injection therapies! READ MORE

  • Can you help with tiredness?

I help many patients with fatigue. There can be a lot of reason for chronic fatigue, which may include hormone dysregulation, nutritional concerns, lifestyle imbalances, or adrenal fatigue. Give us a call if you'd like to learn more about our approach. READ MORE

  • How long is the treatment for chronic pain?

Think of chronic pain like a train that's left the station (no pain). The longer it's been going, the faster it goes and the more difficult it is to stop it and turn it around. Chronic pain takes time and often requires diligence on the part of the patient to invoke significant diet/exercise/lifestyle changes. These, along with some naturopathic modalities can be very effective at managing pain. READ MORE

  • How can I get rid of muscle spasms?

Muscle spasms are often related to overuse of the muscle or lack of nutrients required to relax the muscle. This differs from person to person but often my patients find relief from stretching, fascial release, epsom salt baths, body work, foam rolling, and nutrient balancing. READ MORE

  • How can I treat chronic fatigue?

Chronic fatigue is a complex situation that often requires a deeper workup. Many of my patients with chronic fatigue feel better after we balance their neurotransmitters, adrenal glands, thyroid, blood sugar, and mitochondria. READ MORE

  • Can you help with chronic sinusitis?

The key is discovering what is causing the sinusitis. Often times is food sensitivities, histamine intolerance, acid reflux, or immune imbalance. READ MORE

Get to know Naturopathic Physician Dr. Kelsey Asplin, who serves patients in Denver, Colorado.

Dr. Asplin, a qualified naturopathic physician, has maintained a private practice since 2015 and now manages the Denver Naturopathic Clinic in south Denver, which has served patients for over 30 years. She is an effective practitioner because of her open-mindedness, dedication, and attraction to helping others, along with a keen ability to simply “get” people.

Practicing as a naturopathic primary care doctor with a focus on high-performing professionals, she is able to support all of her patients in a variety of health concerns, including gut health, fatigue and stress, and mitochondrial dysfunction.

Her passion for functional medicine, as well as the naturopathic determinants of health, inspires her to approach every treatment plan first with nutrition and lifestyle recommendations. Her goal is to bring the body into harmony by assisting patients with inflammation, sleep improvement, and immune wellness. Dr. Asplin partners with patients starting at 8 years of age, is very comfortable working with adolescents, and sees many adults and seniors, but her focus at this time is with high-performing professionals, such as entrepreneurs, CEOs, athletes, and celebrities.

The connection of the body to the mind and spirit is essential to wellness and is therefore an integral part of the patient-doctor relationship. Dr. Asplin strives to create a safe and welcoming environment in her office, holding space for those that need it, and offering a counseling aspect to her appointments.

A Colorado native, Dr. Asplin graduated from MSU Denver with her Bachelor of Science degree in Integrative Therapeutic Practices (now the Integrative Healthcare program) in 2011 before going on to obtain her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington. In order to expand the toolkit with which she could help her patients, she also earned her Massage Practitioner license and became a Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner™ while completing her graduate coursework.

One of her greatest passions is sharing her knowledge about health and increasing public awareness of naturopathic modalities that can be effectively used to support the body’s innate healing abilities and enhance the effectiveness of conventional treatments. She is also the Vice President for the Colorado Association of Naturopathic Doctors, and a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

A passionate mentor for people embarking on their health journey, Dr. Asplin believes strongly that having healthy lifestyle foundations is pivotal to healing, longevity, and wellness. That is why she uses functional medicine theory to empower her patients to lead lifestyles grounded in good nutrition, physical activity, optimal digestion, enhanced sleep, and reduced stress. With this framework in place, patients can feel better faster and take charge of their own health.

The practice of naturopathic medicine includes modern and traditional, scientific, and empirical methods. Naturopathic medicine is a distinct primary health care profession, emphasizing prevention, treatment, and optimal health through the use of therapeutic methods and substances that encourage individuals’ inherent self-healing process. Naturopathic physicians diagnose, prevent, and treat acute and chronic illnesses to restore and establish optimal health.

Amazing at what she does, Dr. Asplin attributes her success to coaching and mentorship, as well as having a strong sense of internal grit. She is the recipient of various awards and honors, including Women in Medicine (2022) and 10 Under 10 Award by the Metropolitan State University of Denver (2019).

When she isn’t seeing patients, Dr. Asplin lectures in the Integrative Health Care program at MSU Denver, trains in kickboxing and weight lifting, and enjoys the outdoors with her significant other and their dog, Rudy. She also enjoys horseback riding, hiking, country line dancing, stand up paddle boarding, traveling, as well as dreaming up her next hair-do (which changes often). Her favorite professional publication is Townsend.
