Being a well-versed neurologist, Dr. Knego specializes in complex spinal reconstruction, degenerative spinal disorders and deformities, minimally invasive spinal surgery, brain and spinal tumors, radiosurgery, and pain surgery. He is in practice with Neurosurgery and Spine Specialists, which has provided state-of-the-art neurosurgical care to residents of Sarasota, Florida and the surrounding areas since 1995.

Licensed to practice in both Florida and Texas, Dr. Knego is affiliated with Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, Cape Surgery Center, Doctors Same Day Surgery Center, and Advanced Surgery Center of Sarasota, LLC. He has served as Chief of Surgery at Sarasota Memorial, and was instrumental in creating the Neuroscience Department at the said facility.
In addition, he was a president of Sarasota County Medical Society for two years, and was appointed to and served on the Florida Brain Tumor Advisory Board.
A 1988 graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine, Dr. Knego went on to perform his internship and residency in neurological surgery at the same educational venue. He was taught under the tutelage of Dr. Albert Rhoton.
Paving his way to excellence, the doctor is board-certified through the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). The broad aim of the ABNS is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards and advance the science of neurological surgery and thereby serve the cause of public health.
With his clinical research experience involving ongoing studies, Dr. Knego serves on the faculty at Kyphon and lectures on the topic of restoring spinal function through minimally invasive therapies. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Florida.
In good standing with a number of professional organizations, he is a member of the North American Spine Society, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (Fellow), the Sarasota County Medical Society, and the Florida State Medical Society. He also serves on the Professional Advisory Board of the Cancer Support Community.
