  • Can acupuncture help neuropathy in feet?

Yes, acupuncture is very effective in treating neuropathy in feet. Neuropathy occurs in the feet or hands due to nerve damage. Over time, the nerves lose blood supply due to constriction which causes them to degenerate. They start sending abnormal signals to the brain as nerve damage progresses. People with Peripheral Neuropathy describe the pain as stabbing, burning, or tingling. Some people experience numbness as the nerve damage progresses. Once sensation is lost in the feet, balance problems start to occur and you may be at risk of falling. If it’s in your hands, you may experience weakened grip and begin to drop things. THREE things to know to determine treatment: - What is the underlying cause? - How much nerve damage has been sustained? - How much treatment will be required? FOUR goals of treatment: - Increase blood flow - Stimulate nerve fibers - Decrease brain based pain - Enhance your quality of life! WHAT TO EXPECT We will provide a neurological and vascular exam to determine the extent of injury to the nerves. Then, we will develop a COMPREHENSIVE treatment plan customized for YOUR neuropathy symptoms. Your program will be based on the length of time you’ve had symptoms and the degree of sensory loss you’re experiencing. (Please note: we do not accept patients with greater than 85% sensory loss.) • Is acupuncture good for arthritis in the neck?

Yes, acupuncture is effective in treating pain due to arthritis. Acupuncture therapy sets off a cascade of events, producing a signal that travels along the spinal cord to the brain, triggering a release of neurotransmitters called endorphins and enkephalins, which scientists believe reduce the sensation of pain. Furthermore, research also shows that acupuncture induces the production of cortisol, a hormone that helps control inflammation. In addition, acupuncture may stimulate activity of other pain-relieving chemicals in the body as well. READ MORE

  • What are the benefits of acupuncture for generalized anxiety disorder?

Acupuncture greatly reduces symptoms of anxiety, such as fear, tension, irritability, dizziness, and pounding heartbeat. As several clinical research trials demonstrated, acupuncture therapy is as effective as Buspirone, Fluoxetine, Paroxetine, and Lorazepam, but WITHOUT any side effects such as dizziness, thirst, headache, nausea, constipation, insomnia, or difficulty urinating. Get to know Acupuncturist Dr. Yuliya Chernyak, who practices in Hazlet, New Jersey.

Being a licensed acupuncturist, Dr. Chernyak is dedicated and passionate in working with all of her patients for improved fertility health and pregnancy outcomes for both mother and child, as acupuncture can offer tremendous benefits. She is the owner & operator of Central New Jersey Acupuncture & Wellness in Hazlet, New Jersey.

Her areas of specialization include fertility enhancement, pregnancy support, chronic pain, neuropathy, and fibromyalgia, especially when it comes to chronic and seemingly hopeless cases. Providing expert treatment through the administration of acupuncture and customized herbal medicine, it is her mission to help patients achieve their personal goals, whether it is conception and full-term pregnancy or pain-free life.

In 2008, Dr. Chernyak graduated with her Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. After her graduation, she continued her studies of infertility and pain management treatments.

From over a decade of experience as an acupuncturist and herbalist, she has an extensive background in women’s health and fertility support. She is an active participant in the ever-advancing field of reproductive health, as a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, and through her ongoing collaborations with renowned reproductive endocrinologists and fertility clinics throughout New York City and New Jersey.

Certified through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Dr. Chernyak’s initial interest in acupuncture and Chinese medicine stemmed from her notion that health treatment and maintenance should be as holistic and as natural as possible. Her active lifestyle hobbies – high altitude mountaineering, wilderness backpacking, as well as being a long-time member of NY Road Runners and running the NYC marathon – required her to experience first-hand, how effective Eastern medicine is in managing and treating pain from injuries and maintaining stamina and an optimal health status.

Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine and a key component of Traditional Oriental Medicine. It is a technique in which thin needles are inserted into the body and in some cases, electro-stimulation is applied to gently stimulate particular regions of the body. Acupuncture is also used to maintain general health and well-being. Acupuncturists treat a variety of physical and psychological issues, such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, pain, digestive disorders, and infertility.

On a more personal note, Dr. Chernyak is an enthusiast of nutrition, the arts, and sailing. She enjoys spending time with her daughter and two nieces, her family, and her big fluffy dogs. She is a member of a Community Garden Association at Floyd Bennett Field, where she grows many ingredients for her home cooking.
