Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Richard O. Anderson, who serves patients in Edina, Minnesota.

A seasoned psychiatrist, Dr. Anderson works with patients at his private practice in Edina, Minnesota. His present practice is limited to cognitive/behavioral group therapy of panic and phobic disorders, including social phobia.

Before embarking on his professional journey, he graduated with his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1960. He completed his residencies in internal medicine and psychiatry at the Strong Memorial Hospital of the University of Rochester in 1962 and 1965, respectively.

Licensed to practice medicine in Minnesota, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.
