She comes to New Orleans from Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Her academic interests include psychiatric needs in chronic illness, ethical issues in psychiatry and pediatrics, end-of-life care, culture and psychiatry, and the interfaces of medicine, psychiatry and religion/spirituality.
Children’s Hospital New Orleans is a 222-bed, not-for-profit pediatric medical center offering a complete range of healthcare services for children from birth to 21 years. With over 40 pediatric specialties and more than 400 physicians, it is the first and largest full-service hospital exclusively for children in Louisiana and the Gulf South. Children’s Hospital’s 51-bed Behavioral Health Center offers comprehensive mental and behavioral health services as one of the largest pediatric programs in the country.
With a broad educational background, Dr. Dell is trained in Theology and is active as an Episcopal priest. She completed her medical education and residency in psychiatry at the Indiana University School of Medicine, and completed her fellowship in child & adolescent psychiatry at Emory University School of Medicine. She also holds a Master of Theological Studies and Master of Theology degree, as well as a Doctor of Ministry degree (D.Min).
Passionate about her profession, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry, child & adolescent psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, and consultation-liaison psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
In her professional experience, she is the Co-Chair of the Ethics Committee and the Founding Chair of the Religion and Spirituality Committee of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
