Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Barton L. Wax, who serves patients in Marrero, Louisiana

Dr. Wax is a seasoned orthopedic surgeon who sees patients at Jefferson Orthopedic Clinic in Marrero, Louisiana. He embraced his current role in 2013. In addition, he maintains a hospital affiliation with West Jefferson Medical Center of LCMC Health. He is held in high regard for his proficiency in advanced procedures of the hand and upper extremity. Dr. Wax has a special interest in hand trauma and microvascular surgery.

After completing his undergraduate education at Louisiana State University, Dr. Wax received his medical degree at LSU School of Medicine (LSUHSC). He then conducted an orthopedic surgery residency at the same educational venue, followed by a fellowship in hand surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He maintains professional memberships with the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the Louisiana Orthopaedic Association, and the Greater New Orleans Orthopedic Society.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in orthopedic surgery through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. It is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
