Dr. Fleissner is a board-certified pediatric orthopedic surgeon whose specialities include pediatric and adolescent sports medicine, sports injuries, scoliosis, clubfoot, and fractures. He is currently serving patients at Crystal Clinic Orthopedic Center in Akron, Ohio. The Center’s board-certified surgeons have the training and knowledge to improve patients’ quality of life. 

When Dr. Fleissner isn’t seeing patients at Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center, he is looking for innovative ideas that will improve his treatments and results. “I am always looking for ways to improve and achieve better outcomes for my patients. Nothing that we do is ever perfect, so if we look at what we do critically and try to figure out how to do it better, sometimes we find answers that make a difference” he said. In February 2017, he became the first surgeon in the United States to commercially use the Reveille® Cartilage Processor to perform autologous chondrocyte implantation in a single-stage surgery, instead of the traditional 2-stage surgery.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Fleissner earned his medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio in 1984. He then went on to complete his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Summa Akron City Hospital in 1985 and 1989, respectively. He also completed his fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Denver Children’s Hospital in 1990. 

The doctor is board-certified in both orthopedic surgery and pediatric orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
