Holding an academic appointment, he is an Assistant Professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.

His acclaimed career in medicine began at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He later pursued a residency at St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Ctr/Brooklyn-Queens, followed by an arthroscopy and sports medicine fellowship at San Diego Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center.

With various areas of interest, Dr. Steinvurzel is board certified in both orthopaedic surgery and orthopaedic sports medicine by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.

On a professional front, Dr. Steinvurzel is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of both the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
