Regarding her educational background, Dr. Speed started her career in medicine by earning her medical degree from The Chicago Medical School at the Rosalind Franklin University in 1983. She then went on to complete her internship and residency in family medicine at St. Joseph Hospital in 1984 and 1986, respectively.

With over four decades of experience in her field, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.
