Carl L. Sylvester M.D. is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with offices in both North and South Oklahoma City. Specializing in cataract surgery and laser vision correction, Dr. Sylvester is also the Medical Director and Head Refractive Surgeon at LasikPlus Vision Center in Oklahoma City. A native of Tulsa, he is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and one of only a few fellowship-trained Refractive Surgeons in the state.
As a National Merit Scholar, Dr. Sylvester earned his medical degree at the University Of Oklahoma College of Medicine where he graduated with Honors. He then completed his internship at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh, his residency at CaseWestern Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the internationally renowned Sinskey Eye Institute in Santa Monica, California. Upon completion of his fellowship, he served as the Assistant Director of the Cataract and Refractive Surgery Department at the Sinskey Eye Institute until he returned home to Oklahoma in 2003.
Dr. Sylvester is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a fellow in the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the American Medical Association and the Oklahoma State Medical Association.
Dr. Sylvester provides complete medical and surgical eye care including cataract surgery, laser vision correction, eyelid surgery, glaucoma treatment, diabetic eye care, and management of both macular degeneration and dry eyes. He offers state-of-the-art technology, including 100% bladeless LASIK and advanced cataract surgery using the latest intra-ocular lens implants for the correction of both astigmatism and near vision, giving his patients their best chance at visual freedom. With his advanced training and years of experience, Dr. Sylvester is committed to patient success and satisfaction.
