Get to know Family Medicine Physician Dr. Shahariar H. Saikh whose practice is based out of Mercy Woodstock Medical Center, Woodstock, Illinois.

Dr. Saikh is a dedicated Family Medicine physician whose areas of practice include outpatient primary care, urgent care and inpatient management. In affiliation with Mercyhealth, he practices at a multispecialty clinic in Woodstock and has admission privileges at Mercy Harvard Hospital, Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital and Javon Bea Hospital–Riverside and Rockton campus. He also provides acute patient care at Mercy Woodstock Urgent Care on an as needed basis.

His practice emphasizes on high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, diabetes management, thyroid disease, mental health, child & adolescent physical, sports physical, vaccinations, adult well health exam and Medicare wellness physical.

“I grew up in a rural area where lack of basic medical care resulted in unnecessary loss of life which could have been prevented with simple medical management. This planted a desire in me to become a physician. I love working as a Family Medicine physician because I like the challenge of complexity Family Medicine brings. In Family Medicine I am able to educate and explain my treatment plan to patients and include them in shared decision making. My goal is to have a better healthier society”, expressed the doctor.

Licensed to practice medicine in Illinois and Michigan, he is affiliated with Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, Mercy Harvard Hospital and Javon Bea Hospitals (Riverside & Rockton).

He graduated from International University of the Health Sciences and completed his Family Medicine Residency at MidMichigan Medical Center, Midland, MI (an affiliate program of Michigan State University). He obtained board certification in Family Medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in Family Medicine and its sub-specialties.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, Dr. Saikh is an active member of the Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS), the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), and the McHenry County Medical Society. 

He attributes his success to his love of the medical field and his passion to make a difference in patient’s lives. On a more personal note, Dr. Saikh speaks three languages (English, Bengali, and Hindi) and loves to travel, cook and spend quality time with family to balance his life.
