Get to know Interventional Pain Physician Dr. Juan J. Gargiulo, who serves patients in Southampton, New York.

Dr. Gargiulo is an interventional pain physician with two decades of experience in pain management and anesthesiology. He is the Medical Director of the East End Pain Center in Southampton, New York. 

For each patient, Dr. Gargiulo crafts an individual program of appropriate minimally invasive surgical procedures, medications, physical therapy, and psychological support. With both a multidisciplinary and multi-modal treatment approach, he relies upon prompt and early consultation with other specialists to address the underlying pain condition. He also uses a wide array of options to address the complex needs of severe pain conditions and facilitate recovery.

Among his other roles, Dr. Gargiulo is the Medical Director of AgeFocus Medical Management & Cosmetic Surgery. He devotes his practice to preventive medicine, hormone replacement therapy, and customized nutrition and fitness programs serving the greater New York tri-state area. 

A bio-identical hormone expert, Dr. Gargiulo has maintained a primary interest in the use of hormone therapy, fitness, and nutrition to keep the body in optimal shape. He also has the unique ability to discuss the AgeFocus Age Management program from his own experience as a patient. Dr. Gargiulo exercises daily, follows a prudent low stress/nontoxic lifestyle, eats a healthy low-glycemic diet with appropriate supplementation, and has reaped the benefits of hormone replacement therapy for many years.

Educated in Uruguay, Dr. Gargiulo graduated with his Medical Degree from the Faculty of Medicine – University of the Republic in 1984. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residency in surgery at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in 1989, and his residency in anesthesiology at Westchester Medical Center in 1991.

With an unwavering commitment to his specialty, the doctor is board certified in anesthesiology and interventional pain management by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). The mission of the ABA is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.

Teaching medical students and residents in the field of pain management medicine, Dr. Gargiulo has been serving as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor within the Department of Surgery at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine since 2009.

Among his professional affiliations, he is an active member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the American Society of Anesthesiology, the N.Y.S. Society of Anesthesiologists, and the American Pain Society.

In addition, Dr. Gargiulo holds a Certificate of Training/Percutaneous Lumbar Discectomy Disc Nucleoplasty, a Certificate of Training/Percutaneous Cervical Discectomy Disc Nucleoplasty, a Certificate of Kyphon Inflatable Bone Technology, and is Certified in Age Management Medicine.

Interventional pain medicine is a growing field of pain treatment using minimally invasive procedures and technologies. An  interventional pain physician is responsible for determining the cause of a patient’s pain and prescribing treatment options.
