Patricia Ann Evans, M.D., Ph.D. is a highly respected pediatric neurologist who currently practices at the University of Texas Southwestern Neurology and Children's Health Specialty Center.  She currently serves as both the clinical and residency director of the ABPN accredited Neurodevelopmental Disabilities program at UTSW, only one of 7 in the country.  With her extensive expertise in a range of areas, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Behavioral Neurology, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), and Chromosomal and DNA Disorders, Dr. Evans is deeply committed to delivering exceptional care to her patients. Dr. Evans completed her medical education at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at Lubbock in 1983. During that time, Dr. Evans did additional training in cardiology at the University of London, Middlesex Hospital, in the summer of 1982.  Following that, she finished a residency in  Pediatrics at Texas Tech University School of Medicine in 1986, after which time she practiced privately in Lubbock, TX for five years.  In 1992, she left her private practice to pursued her residency in Pediatric Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She received a National Institute of Health grant to study cognitive development under the direction of Dr. Martha Denckla at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine by 1996.  

Additional training includes work with Dr. Isabelle Rapin at Jacobi Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1995; epilepsy training under Dr. J. Kiffin Penry at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 1993.  Dr. Evans carries board certification in three areas:  Neurology with Special Certification in Pediatric Neurology, and Neurodevelopmental Disorders, both through the American Board of Psychology & Neurology/Child Neurology, as well as Pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics. 

Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Evans has actively participated in various professional organizations. She joined the American Academy of Pediatrics in 1986, the Child Neurology Society in 1992, the American Academy of Neurology in 1992, and the Fragile X National Foundation in 2012.  She served as the section director of Ethics for the American Academy of Neurology for three years.  She has published extensively in both the clinical aspects of special needs individuals as well as the neuroethics in this very complex field.  Her outstanding contributions to the field have earned her numerous awards and accolades, solidifying her reputation as a trailblazer in pediatric neurology.
