Dr. Landry is an Ivy League-trained radiation oncologist who specializes in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, melanoma, soft tissue sarcoma, and breast cancer. He is highly regarded for his work in the area of Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT).

At present, he can be found on staff at Grady Memorial Hospital, the largest hospital in the state of Georgia and the public hospital for the city of Atlanta. It is the fifth-largest public hospital in the United States, as well as one of the busiest Level I trauma centers in the country.

As a pioneer in the field of radiation treatment, Dr. Landry is known for his kind and competent patient care, as well as for his industry standard-setting medical expertise. He is associated with Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University, a nonprofit cancer research and patient care center based in Atlanta. It is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Georgia.

With over three decades of experience in his field, the doctor is board-certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology, a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics. What’s more, he is affiliated with Emory University Hospital – Atlanta, Emory University Hospital – Midtown, and Georgia Cancer Center of Excellence at Grady Memorial Hospital.

As he tells it, Dr. Landry’s decision to become a doctor all started while he was in undergrad at the University of New Orleans. He then went on to complete his internship in internal medicine at Emory University, followed by his residency in radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Radiation oncology is a medical specialty that involves the controlled use of radiation to treat cancer either to cure, or to reduce pain and other symptoms caused by cancer. Radiation therapy (also called radiotherapy) is the term used to describe the actual treatment delivered by the radiation oncology team. A radiation oncologist is a specialist physician who uses ionizing radiation (such as megavoltage X-rays or radionuclides) in the treatment of cancer. Radiation oncology is one of the three primary specialties, the other two being surgical and medical oncology, involved in the treatment of cancer.

As a leader in his specialty, Dr. Landry has published extensively on the subject of IMRT, has been invited to speak numerous times at both medical and academic conferences, and has performed on-site training in over forty radiation oncology centers across the country and overseas. In 2005, he was a chief editor for a chapter on the treatment of pancreatic cancer through IMRT in the textbook Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy: A Clinical Perspective.

Among his various awards and honors, Dr. Landry has been named: America’s Top Doctors – Atlanta Magazine (1995, 1997-1998, 2000-2014, 2016), America’s Top Doctors – Ladies Home Journal (2002), and America’s Top Doctors – Redbook Magazine (2001).
