Raised in his native country, Iran, Dr. Alyeshmerni attended Shiraz University School of Medicine (the former Pahlavi University School of Medicine) and graduated with his medical degree in 1976. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his internship in internal medicine at the New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens (1979-1980) and his residency in ophthalmology at Interfaith Medical Center in brooklyn, NY (1980-1983). Dr. Alyeshmerni then undertook a cornea fellowship at the NY Eye and Ear Infirmary (1983-1984).
Following his training, he attained board certification in ophthalmology through the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The American Board of Ophthalmology is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America. Founded in 1916, the ABO was the first American Board established to certify medical specialists.
In addition to his work at NYEE, Dr. Alyeshmerni maintains hospital privileges at Long Island Jewish Valley Stream in Valley Stream, New York. he is also a practicing ophthalmologist at Park Health Center in South Ozone Park, New York.
