As the Assistant Team Orthopedic Surgeon for the Washington Wizards, he brings his knowledge and experience to the forefront of professional sports, providing elite care to athletes at all levels. He also serves as the Chief of Orthopedics and President of the Medical Staff at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, further enhancing his commitment to comprehensive orthopedic care. Academically, Dr. Hampton’s journey in medicine began in Southern California, where his passion for orthopedics was ignited by the desire to help individuals regain their functional abilities and return to the activities they love. After earning his medical degree from Georgetown University, he completed his orthopedic residency at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and further honed his skills through a fellowship in sports medicine at Harvard’s Brigham & Women’s Hospital. During this fellowship, he also contributed to the education of future orthopedic surgeons, teaching Harvard’s residents and medical students.

Employing a collaborative approach to patient care, he works closely with patients, therapists, and other medical professionals to design personalized treatment plans. His expertise encompasses sports-related injuries and general orthopedic issues, with a focus on complex conditions affecting the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle. He offers a wide array of surgical options, including ligament reconstruction, arthroplasty, and minimally invasive procedures.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Hampton cherishes time with his wife and four young children. An avid outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys running, rock climbing, and surfing whenever he finds himself by the ocean.
