  • How long does it take to fill 3 cavities?

Hello, Happy Holiday’s! Hope you and your family healthy and happy. A few procedures have to be done first, fill out medical history and review, oral exam, and X-rays. Determine which restoration is required (how big or small, how many surfaces are affected), Novocain administered. Up to this point, it could be 20 mins. Are all fillings in one location? Otherwise, X-rays taken for those areas, Novocain given. Depending on the side of the decay in each tooth, fillings take 3-10 mins each.   Wish I could have made it simpler.  Good Luck, Dr. Rowen  READ MORE

  • Can dentures be put in permanently?

Hi! Hope you and your family are healthy and happy. What is permanent? YES! If enough bone is present, multiple implants can be connected to a screw-retained type of denture. The major point: do you have sufficient bone to hold the implants. A Cone Beam, a specific type of X-ray, is used to determine if you are a candidate for implants. There are other things to consider of course, but bone quantity and quality can be the major issue if you are a good candidate for implants and this procedure. Good Luck! Dr. Rowen READ MORE

  • Can you chew gum with a crown?

Happy 4th! Hope you and your family are HEALTHY! Yes, you can chew gum. BUT, if the porcelain is rough, the gum will stick to the rough surface. If the crown requires adjustments in the mouth, which is VERY common, the rough surface SHOULD BE POLISHED TO A GLASS LIKE SURFACE. READ MORE

  • How long does it take for a gum abscess to heal?

Hello, HAPPY 4th! Hope you and your family are healthy and happy! AN ABSCESS IS A TUBE FROM INSIDE YOUR BODY TO THE OUTSIDE. ALLOWING THE INFECTION TO GO OUTSIDE OF YOUR BODY. EVEN THOUGH IT IS IN YOUR MOUTH, IT IS STILL OUTSIDE. FIRST, THE CAUSE OF THE ABSCESS (INFECTION) HAS TO BE TREATED, REMOVED. Once that occurs, the abscess will begin to heal. Now, depending on your health, for example, general health, immune system, diabetic, weight, smoking, etc., the time will be different for each person. If you are HEALTHY, I believe the area will heal within a few weeks, BUT TO BE TOTALLY HEALED, IT COULD BE MONTHS. REASON, NEW CELLS HAVE TO GROW, OLD CELLS ARE REMOVED. THIS PROCESS TAKES “TIME”!
