  • What can I do to get rid of my stretch marks and excess skin?

Thanks so much for your question! And congratulations on losing all that weight. That's no small feat. Unfortunately, the excess skin and stretch marks don't usually disappear with weight loss and that can leave you with some trouble areas. The only way we have to remove excess skin and stretch marks is with surgery. The treatment plan would depend on which areas bother you, and, as with all surgeries, there will be a scar. I like to think of it like going to a tailor- if you have a dress or a pair of pants taken in, there has to be a seam somewhere. It's my job as a plastic surgeon to hide the scar and make sure it heals perfectly! The best next step would be to set up a consultation with a plastic surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery; he or she would be able to help work with you to figure out how to best suit your needs. • Lots of stretch marks. What can I do?

Thanks so much for your question! Unfortunately the main treatment for stretch marks is to remove them surgically during a tummy tuck. This tightens the skin of the abdomen and would remove almost all of the stretch marks below your belly button. Another option is to have them treated with laser resurfacing, but this can sometimes not be terribly effective. READ MORE

  • Brazilian butt lift- can you make my butt shorter?

Thank you so much for your question. It's difficult to give you a complete answer without seeing you and examining your areas of concern, but in general it is possible to make a "shorter" butt. Longer butts usually look that way because of the lack of transition from the lower back to the buttock area. By performing liposuction in the lower back and flanks, I improve that transition point and there is more of a shelf in the upper buttocks. This generally leads to a more round and less stretched out appearance. As far as lifting your lower buttocks to lengthen your thighs and shorten your butt, this is a little different. There is a zone of adherence where your skin is attached to the deeper layers of your tissue in the crease under your buttocks. If this area is liposuctioned, you will lose that adherence and the entire buttock will drop and will not look very good at all, so I'd recommend staying away from doing that. I hope this helped, and if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to email me or give my office a call. Dr. Seth READ MORE
