Dr. Munz is a neuro & spine surgeon who is currently serving patients at Vero NeuroSpine, located in Vero Beach, Florida. Dr. Munz received his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, as well as a Master of Science degree with a focus on central nervous system regeneration and transplantation. He fulfilled his training in neurosurgery at the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI), followed by his fellowship training in neurosurgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Munz completed an additional fellowship in functional and stereotactic neurosurgery (treatment of movement disorders, pain disorders, and epilepsy) at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada.
Dr. Munz was an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for five years prior to entering into private practice.
Dr. Munz has been involved as an investigator in numerous research projects and clinical trials. He has also published journal articles on various topics within the field of neurosurgery, and has held lectures on a wide variety of topics in neurosurgery - both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Munz wanted to be a physician ever since he was ten years old. “I have always been fascinated with the brain and spine. There is nothing more satisfying than being able to get to the root of a complex problem and see both the patients and their families lives improve” said Dr. Munz.
Dr. Munz is board certified in neurological surgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). The broad aim of the ABNS is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards, and advance the science of neurological surgery, thereby serving the cause of public health.
Dr. Munz is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). The ACS is dedicated to improving the care of the surgical patient and to safeguarding standards of care in an optimal and ethical practice environment.
Neurosurgery, or neurological surgery, is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders which affect any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and extra-cranial cerebrovascular system. As a neuro & spine surgeon, Dr. Munz’s clinical interests include minimally invasive spine surgery, carpal tunnel syndrome, spine and brain tumors, movement disorders, pain syndrome with spinal cord stimulators, and radiosurgery.
Dr. Munz has strong ties to Vero Beach, Florida. He has been visiting Vero Beach since 1999 and his wife’s family has been in Vero Beach since 1979.
In his spare time, Dr. Munz enjoys spending time with his wife and children, as well as playing an occasional round of bad golf.
