Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Daniel Efiom-Ekaha, who serves patients in York, Pennsylvania.

A Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Dr. Efiom-Ekaha is a well-versed hematologist-oncologist. He is in practice with Cancer Care Associates of York.

Specializing in caring for local oncology and hematology patients, Cancer Care Associates of York is a well-established, community private practice serving the York, Pennsylvania community for over 40 years. The medical team consists of 8 physicians and 4 advanced practitioners, utilizing a team approach and coordinating with other specialists in the treatment and care of patients with cancer and blood diseases. They pride themselves in providing personalized care and compassion to each patient and their family.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Efiom-Ekaha is a 1995 graduate of the University College Hospital, University of Ibadan in Nigeria with internship and residency training at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Cornwall Region Hospital in St. James, Jamaica. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine at The Brooklyn Hospital Center and his fellowships in hematology and medical oncology at the State University of New York. 

With a focus on clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, hematology, medical oncology, and hospice & palliative medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, and sickle-cell disease. 

Among the doctor’s most notable achievements, he is the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2010, 2011, 2015), and On-Time Doctor Award (2015).
