Dr. Hooker is a skilled orthopedic surgeon who specializes in shoulder, hip, and knee replacements, rotator cuff repairs, and sports medicine procedures of the shoulder, knee and ankle. 

He joined Atlantic General Health System and the staff of the Center for Joint Surgery at Atlantic General Hospital from Riverside Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Newport News, Virginia, where he performed orthopedic surgeries for eight years. He also held the role of team orthopedic surgeon for Christopher Newport University sports, in Newport News, and the Peninsula Pilots, a summer collegiate baseball team located in Hampton, Virginia. 

Prior to his time in the Hampton Roads area, Dr. Hooker served in the U.S. Army, notably as commander of the health clinic in the U.S. Army Garrison at Camp Long, Korea, and as orthopedic surgeon at Winn Army Community Hospital in Ft. Stewart, Georgia. 

Pertaining to his educational background, he earned his medical degree at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., before completing a transitional internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii. In 2008, Dr. Hooker earned a shoulder and elbow fellowship at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia.

Dedicated to surgical excellence, he is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
