Ian Topelson, DMD, FICOI, FAAIP is a top dentist who lends his skills and expertise to serve patients at his private practice, Affordable Dentures & Implants, in Aurora, Colorado. Dr. Topelson bought his first practice in 1997 and upon selling it in 2015, he acquired Affordable Dentures & Implants. The practice is dedicated exclusively to tooth replacement, i.e., implants, full and partial dentures, and extractions. “I strive for perfection, but perfection doesn’t exist. I want to be able to sleep at night and be comfortable but am never willing to cut corners. So many dentists aim for the intersection of affordability and quality yet fall short but achieving both is the standard in my practice”, testifies Dr. Topelson. With twenty-four years of experience as a dentist, he has been specializing in implant dentistry since 2013 when he first introduced implants in his practice. “To be able to give patients the opportunity to stabilize that lower denture or to get rid of the palate so a patient can eat, taste, and feel normal again — that’s pretty cool. Very few professions have that kind of impact on people”, Dr. Topelson adds about the practice of dentistry. Dr. Topelson has also been featured in Implant Practice US.

Get to know Dentist Dr. Ian Topelson, who serves patients in Aurora, Colorado.
A reputable general dentist with a keen interest in implantology, Dr. Topelson specializes in preventing, diagnosing, and treating diseases and conditions associated with the mouth and overall dental health. After selling his first practice in 2015 (which he initially bought back in 1997), he acquired the Affordable Dentures & Implants practice in Aurora, Colorado, at the beginning of 2016.
Affordable Dentures & Implants is exclusively focused on tooth replacement — full & partial dentures, implants, and extractions. No matter the patient’s situation, the possibility exists to fix their teeth and restore their mouth to normal function and appearance.
“To be able to give patients the opportunity to stabilize that lower denture or to get rid of the palate so a patient can eat, taste, and feel normal again — that’s pretty cool. Very few professions have that kind of impact on people” stated Dr. Topelson.
Originally from Mexico City, he moved to the United States when he was 14. He graduated from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry and Art. Realizing in college that he loved the intersection of science and art, he went on to pursue his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He later completed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program at Lutheran Medical Center in Rochester, New York.
“As a general dentist with a focus toward implantology, I decided that I needed to find a course that allowed me to really dive in and learn, so around 2012, I attended an Implant Seminars course with Dr. Arun Garg. My wife was battling cancer around that time, and I had to delay some training, but I finally got the opportunity to begin placing implants in my practice around 2013. And today, thanks to my Affordable Dentures & Implants practice’s niche focus on tooth replacement, I get to present the implant opportunity to every patient who walks in my door” expressed Dr. Topelson.
Beyond his Implant Seminars course, he has studied with Dr. Virgil Mongalo and Dr. Justin Moody.
“I strive for perfection, but perfection doesn’t exist. I want to be able to sleep at night and be comfortable but am never willing to cut corners. So many dentists aim for the intersection of affordability and quality yet fall short, but achieving both is the standard in my practice” noted Dr. Topelson.
Holding fellowship status, he is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (FICOI) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontics (FAAIP). He is also proud to be part of the International Dental Implant Association fellowship and the Colorado Prosthodontics Society, where he can stay focused on continuing education and adopt a progressive stance on implant restoration techniques.
Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.
Happily married, Dr. Topelson and his wife, Regina, have two sons, Max and Marc. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and soccer, and skiing. He is also a huge Broncos fan.
