There are a few types of disc herniations and a wide spectrum of symptoms and levels of pain. The vast majority will heal on their own but this may take a long time. A targeted exercise program for this specific problem will not directly heal the disc, but can definitely help facilitate the healing process taking place by your body and is recommended, however only with monitoring and supervision by a professional like a physical therapist for example. Yes you can and in fact you should. Of course it depends on many factors including the degree of scoliosis, whether you have pain or not and many more. In General however you should be able to. Hi, In general the answer is no. Exercise however can help in many other ways including relieving occasional back pain that can sometimes be associated with scoliosis. In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Kessous is an appointed Clinical Assistant Professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine, teaching sports medicine and orthopedic medicine to medical residents and students.
Bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to his practice, Dr. Kessous received his Medical Degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 1999. He then completed a surgical internship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.
After three years as a general and orthopedic surgery resident at Tel Aviv Medical Center, Dr. Kessous returned to Boston to fulfill a residency in family medicine at Boston University Medical Center. He furthered his expertise with sports medicine training at Harvard Medical School’s Children’s Hospital.
Board certified in both family medicine and sports medicine, Dr. Kessous is recognized as a Diplomate of the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons, a testament to his commitment to excellence in patient care.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kessous has worked with a diverse range of athletes and sports teams, from professional to recreational levels. His impressive resume includes providing medical support for events such as the Boston Marathon, the AT&T USA Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Boston Ballet Dance Company, and the Northeastern University Ice Hockey team. Currently, he is a valued member of the medical team for the U.S. Ski Team and the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C.
