Born in New York City, Dr. Wachter earned his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 1982. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, followed by his fellowship in allergy & immunology at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. He received multiple awards during his fellowship for his research in molecular biology.
With a passion for his field and an unwavering commitment to his specialty, he is board-certified in pediatric and adult allergy, asthma, and immunology through the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI). The ABAI establishes qualifications and examines physicians to become recognized specialists in allergy and immunology. It is a conjoint board of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics.
Named a “Phoenix Top Doctor” multiple times, Dr. Wachter is a Fellow of the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, as well as a member of multiple medical societies such as the Greater Phoenix Allergy Society, the Arizona Allergy and Asthma Society, the Maricopa County Medical Society, the Arizona State Asthma Coalition, the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, and Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society.

These conditions range from the very common to the very rare, spanning all ages and encompassing various organ systems. An allergist and immunologist is a physician specially trained to diagnose, treat, and manage allergies, asthma, and immunologic disorders, including primary immunodeficiency.
Active in community service projects and teaching medical students, Dr. Wachter has continued his interest in clinical research by currently working with the Veterans Hospital and DoD doing asthma health outcomes research. He and his colleagues have published their asthma research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
As a testament to his success, he is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2014, 2016), On-Time Doctor Award (2016), Patients’ Choice Award (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2016), and Castle Connolly Top Doctors™ (2012).
