  • Will I still be nearsighted after cataract surgery?

That is up to you and your surgeon. Your prescription changes after cataract surgery, so your vision can be set for distance or near, that is something that you and your surgeon would have to discuss. READ MORE

  • My little brother's eye?

You can pull it out but you just have to be careful not to scratch his eye. It would be best to take him in to see an eye doctor so that they can numb his eye and remove the hair while also making sure that his cornea is not scratched. If his cornea is scratched, then they can prescribe an antibacterial ointment to be used for a few days to help with pain and make sure he doesn't get an infection. READ MORE

  • What is a good vitamin for dry eyes?

You want to find a vitamin with the AREDS2 formula. So, Ocuvite or Preservision with AREDS2 are over-the-counter. Lunovus makes one that you can order online that is a multivitamin and AREDS2 vitamin combined (https://lunovus.com/collections/maintaining-macular-health/products/areds-2macular-support-plus-multi?variant=43021575159995). I hope that helps. READ MORE

  • What helps dry eyes from contacts?

The two biggest things to do in order to reduce dry eye with contact lenses is to make sure and never sleep in your contacts and also throw them away as required (whether that be daily or every 2 weeks or monthly). Overwear of contact lenses can cause dryness and may cause you to become intolerant to contact lenses in the future. You can also use rewetting drops twice daily especially the days that you are constantly on the computer and you can decrease your contact lens wear time during the day. READ MORE

  • Can you go blind if you get hand sanitizer in your eye?

No, you just need to flush it out with water for a couple of minutes and continue to use artificial tears when your eyes feel irritated. READ MORE

  • I tasted my eye drops?

No, that is pretty normal. The eyes, the nose and the mouth are all connected. You can pinch the bridge of your nose if you want to decrease the amount of eye drops that can go down the back of your throat. READ MORE

Yes, dry eye can cause blurry vision in one eye worse than the other. The best thing to do is use artificial tears about 4 x day for 2 weeks, then drop them down to 2 x day and use them in both eyes. READ MORE

  • How long can you wear contacts for?

It depends on the type of contact lenses that you have, but you need to take your contacts out every night and throw them away every day if you have daily lenses, or every 2 weeks or monthly if you have most other lenses. But, to keep your eyes healthy, it is extremely important NOT to sleep in your contacts. READ MORE

  • Eye swollen?

That is called a pterygium. That is very common and usually gets worse when outside on a sunny day especially when not wearing UV sunglasses. It is not something that you need to be concerned about. You probably also have a conjunctival elevation (pinguecula) on your other eye as well (it just may not be as close to the cornea as this one is). It's not going to go away, but using artificial tears to keep your eyes lubricated and wearing UV sunglasses when outside is the best way to reduce the progression and irritation. READ MORE

  • How do I get new contacts during the coronavirus?

You need to make an appointment with your optometrist for a contact lens exam. Most optometrist's offices are open for business, but most will have some safety protocols that they are following to help keep everyone safe (i.e., everyone must wear and mask and they may be limiting the number of people they allow in the office). READ MORE

  • Can high blood pressure cause blurry vision?

  • Are light eyes more sensitive to sunlight?

Yes, typically light eyes have less pigment in the retina which will cause light eyes to be more light sensitive than dark eyes. The more pigment that the retina has (i.e., dark eyes), the more light is absorbed by the retina which makes the intensity of the light coming into the eyes less intense, therefore, less light sensitive.
