Dr.Anbalagan’s interest in psychiatry grew from working with the severely mentally ill during medical school and she pursued this interest through a psychiatry residency at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. During her time in residency, she served as the Chief resident and was elected to represent the residents as a Counselor in the House Staff Committee. In medical school at Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College, India, Dr.Anbalagan was a gold medalist and was elected as the associate general secretary of the Medical Student Association.
 
In addition to treating mental health issues in adults, Dr.Anbalagan is experienced in treating children of all ages, with various psychiatric issues, including behavioral problems, depression, anxiety, psychosis, ADHD, PTSD, and other disorders. She has a special interest in transitional age youth, college mental health, and the juvenile delinquent population. Dr.Anbalagan continues to be an active member of multiple professional organizations including the American Psychiatric Association, Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the American Association of Psychiatry and the Law.
