Due to his warm personality and gentle, advanced techniques, Dr. Mercado has become a highly sought-after pediatric dentist. A graduate of Marquette University, Dr. Mercado received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1988. He then earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry in 1993.
Following dental school, he received implant training at UTHSC at San Antonio (1992-1993), orthodontic training in straight wire and functional appliances from Dr. Rondeau (2001-2002), training in sleep medicine/obstructive sleep apnea with an oral appliance from Dr. Roubal (November 2012), and laser treatment training with Ivoclar Vivadent (February 2012).
Utilizing the latest technology in his office to exceed patients’ expectations, Dr. Mercado takes numerous continuing education courses in his areas of interest – implants, orthodontics, 3-D imaging, and CAD-CAM dentistry.
Pursuing further knowledge in the field of dentistry, he remains an active member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the San Antonio District Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and the International Association for Orthodontics.
