  • I have a swollen left eye lid. I want to know if that serious? Or should I be worried?

It looks like you might be getting an early chalazion of that eyelid. Start warm compresses 2-3 times a day followed by gentle massage. READ MORE

  • Cataract Surgery

Could possibly be related to the steroid eye drops used after the surgery. Make sure you hold pressure over the tear ducts in the nasal portion of the eyelids after you put in the drops for at least one minute to keep it from getting as much into the bloodstream. Hopefully within a week or so of being off the drops it will return to pre-surgery levels. READ MORE

  • My eye is swollen after I blew my nose?

Occasionally air can travel up the tear duct and collect under the skin and soft tissue. It should clear fairly quickly with a week. If not then see your eye doctor. READ MORE

  • Which is better for cataract surgery laser or traditional?

To my knowledge, outcomes are equivalent for both. In my opinion, only very dense cataracts that require softening with the laser really benefit. READ MORE

  • Can you cure cataracts without surgery?

I haven't found any drops, supplements, or oral medications that clear cataracts. Luckily modern cataract surgery is a 10 minute procedure that requires little down time and quick recovery. READ MORE

  • Ash in eye?

Start with using artificial tears every hour and see if this helps. If there no scratchiness or foreign body sensation then it may just be a freckle on the iris that you are seeing and not ash. If you do the tears and it still feels scratchy then you may need to see your local eye doctor for a check. READ MORE

  • How can you prevent cataracts from getting worse?

Unfortunately there are no eye drops or supplements that prevent the formation of cataracts. Vitamin C in a few studies has shown to slow down progression but it's not conclusive. Eye drops such as Can-C and antioxidant drops have not been proven to work either. Good uv-protecting sunglasses are important though. READ MORE
