He completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2016 and furthered his training with a fellowship in anesthesiology and critical care medicine through the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in 2017.

Dr. Sims holds board certifications from the American Board of Anesthesiology in both Critical Care Medicine and Anesthesiology.
