A board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Beharrie specializes in sports-related injuries of the knee, shoulder and elbow. He is affiliated with Summit Health, seeing patients at their offices in Paramus and Clifton, New Jersey.

Throughout his career he has treated athletes at all levels, including high school, college, professional and the weekend warrior. His clinical interests include complex conditions of the knee and shoulder, including repairs, reconstructions, and fracturess. He has expertise in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability and labral repairs, and the management of shoulder fractures.

In addition, Dr. Beharrie specializes in ligament repair and reconstruction of the knee, patella instability, meniscal repair, tibial osteotomies, cartilage restoration procedures, and total and partial knee replacements surgery.

Educated in the United States, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Biomedical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and graduated with his medical degree from the Harvard Medical School. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and followed with a fellowship in sports medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital. During his fellowship, he served as one of the assistant team physicians for the New York Jets.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

Professionally, Dr. Beharrie is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.

Among his other roles, he maintains hospital privileges at the Englewood Hospital, Hudson Regional Hospital, HUMC at Pascack Valley, and The Valley Hospital.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
