  • How long can you live with a bad heart valve?

That sounds like an easy question but in fact is a very complex question to answer. There are many factors that go into predicting that. What type of valve problem is it? Which valve? Are there any other problems with the heart? How severe is the problem? Does the patient have any other medical problems? Is the patient's family history? Does the patient have any kind of adverse environmental exposure (smoking etc.) Because of all of these questions, it is best to consult a cardiologist or heart surgeon and discuss the entire picture before any kind of reasonable estimate could be reached.
