He then completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Parkland Memorial Hospital, Children’s Medical Center, Zale Lipshy Medical Center, St. Paul Medical Center; Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, Dallas VA Medical Center, Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas Spine Hospital, and Norfolk & Norwich Medical Center in Norwich, U.K. Wanting to continue his training he completed his Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy fellowship with the University Of Rochester/Strong Memorial Hospital Kenneth DeHaven, MD and associates in Rochester, NY. He the completed his spine surgery fellowship with Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Programs. Dr. Schmitz is board certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and he has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine.
