Get to know Dentist Dr. Valerie Kaenel, who serves patients in San Diego, California.

Dr. Kaenel is a dentist who specializes in cosmetic and family dentistry. She is currently serving patients’ dental needs at Padre Dental Group in San Diego, California. She and her husband, Dr. Preston Kaenel, are the owners of Padre Dental Group. Combining artistry and advanced technology, they strive to make each patient’s experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Their motto is to treat all of their patients as family and that includes their staff as well. 

Dr. Kaenel earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of California, San Diego, followed by her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Southern California in 1997. She graduated in the top 5 of her class, earning a place in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a national dental honor society founded for the purpose of encouraging scholarship and advancing the ethical standards of the dental profession. 

Dr. Kaenel has a passion for dentistry and she is always striving to improve her skills by devoting time to continuing education. She is a member of the American Dental Society, the California Dental Society and the San Diego Dental Society. 

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.

In her spare time, Dr. Kaenel enjoys playing soccer, running, working out at the gym, and skiing. She spends most of her spare time with her two daughters, taking them to all their numerous activities.
