About

Dr. Eric Chang-Tung is an experienced multiboard certified surgeon specializing in Cardiac, Vascular and Thoracic Surgery   His practice covers a wide geographic region in Texas, including the cities of Flower Mound, Lewisville, Carrollton, Plano and Dallas.  Dr. Chang-Tung has has undergone extended training in Surgical Thoracic Oncology at the M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston and provides compassionate Cancer care with a constant effort to minimize discomfort and recovery time with procedures.  He has also undergone additional training in endovascular surgery and is adept with the use of the latest technologies involved in the management of aneurysms, limb ischemia, venous  thrombus and thromoboembolic (pulmonary emboli) diseases.  He has a preference for the application of minimally invasive surgical techniques in all aspects of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery as perioprative recovery time is shortened and less invasiveness usually translates into less discomfort.   Having a graduate level degree in Engineering, he continuously evaluates the role of new technology in the treatment of diseases involving the heart, lungs, esophagus and blood vessels of the body and incorporates advancements which demonstrate clinical value.

While a surgical procedure is often the only management option to correct a decompensated biological system, he feels that much effort needs to be directed towards addressing the cause of disease.  Reducing risk factors which have caused the disease such as genetically determined cholesterol or lipids, hypertension, inflammatory diets in addition to toxic environmental exposures is an important aspect of total care.  With preventive medicine in mind, Dr Chang-Tung would like to share his favorite message of wisdom with you... "Protect thy heart, from it flows the springs of life." Proverbs 4:24
