Get to know Trauma / General Surgeon Dr. Angela N. Jones, who serves patients in Boca Raton and Delray Beach, Florida.

Dr. Jones is a trauma / general surgeon who can be found on staff at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. She also works within the Department of Trauma at Delray Medical Center.

Some of the conditions that she treats include traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, fractures, crush injury, trauma, head trauma, burns, contusion, and cancer. Likewise, some of the procedures that she performs include skin graft, transfusion, scalp reconstruction, wound repair, infusion device insertion, and abdominal drainage.

Boca Raton Regional Hospital is a 400-bed, not-for-profit health care organization located in Boca Raton, Florida. It was established in 1967 and provides patient care in areas such as cardiovascular, oncology, women’s health, orthopedics, emergency medicine, and neurosciences.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Jones graduated with her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 2001. She then went on to earn her internship and residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2002 and 2006, respectively. This was followed by a fellowship with Evanston Northwestern Healthcare in 2007, and an additional fellowship at the University of Florida Health Science Center in 2012.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, she is board-certified in surgery and surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Trauma surgery is a surgical specialty that utilizes both operative and non-operative management to treat traumatic injuries, typically in an acute setting. A trauma surgeon is a highly trained and specialized medical care professional who performs emergency surgeries on patients suffering from acute injuries and illnesses. They generally complete residency training in general surgery and often fellowship training in trauma or surgical critical care.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care.
