A skilled ophthalmologist, Dr. Hurtado sees patients at Pines Ophthalmology Care in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Specializing in general eye and vision care, she treats conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and keratitis. 

After graduating with her medical degree from Luis Razetti School of Medicine at the Central University of Venezuela in 1989, Dr. Hurtado is eligible for certification in ophthalmology through the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The ABO is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and perform cataract, glaucoma, retinal, and corneal surgery.

In honor of her clinical expertise, Dr. Hurtado has been the recipient of Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2018, 2017, 2016, 2015), On-Time Doctor Award (2018, 2017, 2016), Patients’ Choice Award (2018, 2017), and Compassionate Doctor Award – 5 Year Honoree (2020).
