He also served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Nephrology at the George Washington University School of Medicine, and a Consultant in private practice in Montclair, New Jersey. 

Recognized as an honorary Fellow by the American College of Physicians, he was board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Academically, Dr. Cantor holds a Certificate of Management & Leadership from the Kellogg Graduate School of Business, a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of South Dakota, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Boston University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with Distinction in Research.

His acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C. in 1984. He then went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at Stamford Hospital, followed by his fellowship in hypertension & kidney diseases at the George Washington University Hospital.

An authority in his field, Dr. Cantor is a frequently requested speaker on research methodology, leadership and pharmaceutical development, quoted in the media from the United States to Dubai, and listed in Who’s Who in America. He has over twenty years of experience leading teams of medical specialists focused on drug research and scientific communications. He is published in areas of AIDS nephropathy, hematuria, chronic renal failure, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, epidermolysis bullosa, fabry disease, and nephrogenic systemic fibrosis. 

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care when the time comes. 

Happily married, Dr. Cantor and his husband, Nick Centanni, reside in East Hanover, New Jersey. He enjoys swimming, bicycling, photography, theatrical production, and art collecting in his spare time.
