Get to know Dermatologist Dr. Melissa M. Burnett, who serves patients in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Dr. Burnett, an exceptional dermatologist in Wellesley Hills, founded Premier Dermatology, PLLC in 2019. She is a sought-after expert in the field of medical, pediatric, and cosmetic dermatology, and has practiced in the Boston area for more than 15 years.

A 2000 graduate of The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont, Dr. Burnett performed her internship and residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and the University of Minnesota where she served as Chief Resident in her final year.  

Following her residency, she returned to Boston and worked as a Clinical Associate in Dermatology at Massachusetts General Hospital, and served as a Clinical Instructor at Harvard Medical School for ten years.  She also served as the Chair of Dermatology at Cambridge Health Alliance before focusing on private practice dermatology. 

Specializing in skin care, she is board-certified in dermatology and pediatric dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.

Licensed to practice medicine in Massachusetts, Dr. Burnett is affiliated with Mass General Brigham, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and Emerson Hospital.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, she is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Society of Pediatric Dermatology, The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery,  the Massachusetts Academy of Dermatology, the Massachusetts Medical Society, and the American Medical Association.

Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin, the largest organ of the body; a specialty with medical, surgical and cosmetic aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages skin diseases due to both internal and external causes and is trained to address cosmetic concerns involving the skin. Dermatological duties include diagnosis and management of a variety of skin disorders, rashes, birthmarks, skin cancer screening and treatment, skin infections, cutaneous surgery and the use of injectables and lasers for skin rejuvenation.  

Named a 2020 Top Doctor by Castle Connelly, Dr. Burnett was also awarded Exceptional Women In Medicine (2020) as well as featured in Boston Magazine (2021), The New York Times, and The New England Journal of Medicine.

Happily married, she lives in Weston with her husband and two teenage daughters. She also enjoys traveling with her family, coaching soccer, and skiing.
