Blood pressure/heart?
Two things: the palpitations or flutters you are experiencing. Have you had an EKG recently? I’m wondering if this is an arrhythmia such as atrial fibrillation. Or they may be related to the albuterol. I know you probably don’t smoke or take a lot of caffeine but if you do please cut back on those. The other thing was the BP discrepancy in both arms: it could be atherosclerotic disease in which case you should have further workup to make sure you aren’t high risk for atherosclerotic heart disease or stroke. There is also a condition called subclavian steal syndrome where you could see a wide difference in BP except usually it would be associated with neurological symptoms such as dizziness, vertigo. In any case please find yourself a good PCP and make sure you get risk stratified for heart disease. Good luck and take care. READ MORE
How can I prevent pneumonia after a cold?
Usually persons your age who are susceptible to a secondary bacterial pneumonia after a viral infection are those with compromised immunity - eg AIDS, autoimmune disorders, those on immunosuppressive medications, cancer on chemotherapy. Some people who have had a splenectomy, who smoke or have COPD should get the pneumococcal vaccine. I’m presuming you are a healthy 33 year old. You still should take care of your health in general eg eat a healthy balanced diet (adequate protein, plenty of fruits and vegetables), enough sleep, keep away from sick contacts/hospitals. Are there any specific immunity boosters? Well the vitamin C theory has been debunked I would still advise taking a supplement that contains iron, selenium, zinc, and vitamin D - latter 1000 IU daily. Hope this helps. READ MORE
