Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Arkan Alrashid, who serves patients throughout the State of Illinois.

A board-certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Alrashid is affiliated with GI Partners of Illinois, serving patients in the Libertyville and Gurnee areas. He is also an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine.

A native of Iraq, he earned his medical degree from the Al-Mustansiriya College of Medicine in Baghdad. After relocating to the United States, he furthered his education by completing his internship and residency at the Chicago Medical School. Finally, he completed his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

An expert in his field, the doctor is board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. A gastroenterologist is a physician who has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system.

Recognized as a Vitals Preferred Provider, Dr. Alrashid has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award in 2018.
