The mission of Island Women’s Care is to provide personalized, high-quality gynecological health care for women through all stages of their lives. “Women’s health care has evolved dramatically over the last few years. I believe that an important element in delivering quality care is being up-to-date on new developments in the care of females. I’m always looking for better treatment options for my patients. I believe that mutually engaged patient-physician relationships, plus the delivery of evidence-based medicine, will improve the health and quality of life of my patients” as stated by Dr. Millan. 

After earning her bachelor’s degree in biology from Duke University, she went on to obtain her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 1992. “Several members of my family are in the medical field and I was exposed to all aspects of medicine at an early age. My passion for women’s health issues developed during a clinical rotation in medical school” as stated by the doctor.

Upon graduation, Dr. Millan completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. Before becoming a partner at Island Women’s Care, she practiced in Myrtle Beach and Marion in South Carolina & Alexandria, Virginia. 

A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada. 

Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors of the Tidelands Health Foundation, which is made up of community volunteers with diverse backgrounds and expertise who remain dedicated to volunteering their time and talent to ensure that quality health care is available to the people of the Tidelands region.
