A knowledgeable pain management specialist, Dr. Baksh welcomes patients at The Pain Center of Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland. He specializes in the treatment of acute and chronic pain syndromes including mechanical neck and low back pain, radiculopathies, complex regional pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, myofascial and musculoskeletal pain syndromes. His multi-disciplinary approach is aimed at improving his patient’s functional mobility and quality of life.
The Pain Center of Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland is a premier facility offering a multi-disciplinary approach to treating pain. The Pain Center offers both interventional and non-interventional treatments for chronic and acute pain in a caring, patient-centered environment. It has three locations in Martinsburg, West Virginia; Winchester, Virginia; and Hagerstown, Maryland.
Originally from Monroe, New York, Dr. Baksh attended the University of South Carolina on a baseball scholarship where he studied and played ball for three years before transferring to James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He earned All-Colonial Athletic Association honors as a senior first baseman and was named co-most valuable player for the Dukes and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. Upon graduation, he signed a free agent contract with the New York Yankees organization to play professional baseball.
After a successful stint with the Yankees, he received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Temple University, and earned his medical degree from the Medical University of Lublin in Poland. While at Temple University, he began to realize the impact pain has on every aspect of a patient’s life, which led him to develop comprehensive treatment solutions focused on a multidisciplinary approach.
Subsequently, Dr. Baksh further advanced his understanding of chronic pain and the impact it has on functional mobility and quality of life during his residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Texas/Baylor College of Medicine. Later, he trained in an ACGME accredited pain fellowship at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City.
In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in pain management and physical medicine & rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R). This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning.
As for his academic appointments, he holds a faculty position as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the West Virginia University School of Medicine.
