Dr. Patel is an experienced cardiologist who is a very high volume operator of cardiac catheterizations, trans-esophageal echocardiography, stress testing, trans-thoracic echocardiography, permanent pacemakers, and critical care. Working at Prime Heart, he provides comprehensive cardiac care at the offices in Maplewood and Jersey City, New Jersey.

The goal of Prime Heart is to identify patients at risk of cardiovascular events and to provide the highest quality medical care with respect and compassion. Its motto is “Prevention Is Better Than Cure.”

With more than two decades of diverse experience, Dr. Patel is affiliated with many hospitals including Bayonne Medical Center, Jersey City Medical Center, and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. 

The doctor’s journey into medicine began after he obtained his medical degree from Pramukhswami Medical College in India. Upon relocating to the United States, he performed his residency in internal medicine at Interfaith Medical Center, and his fellowship in cardiology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

With a commitment to excellence in heart health, Dr. Patel is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and nuclear cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

Among Dr. Patel’s various publications include: “Efficacy of a New Angio-Seal Vascular Closure Device: A 30-Day Prospective Study” presented at the American College of Chest Physicians conference in November of 2002; “Effects of the Valvular Calcification on Morbidity and Mortality in Young End Stage Renal Disease Patients on Maintenance Hemodialysis” presented at the American Society of Nephrology in November of 2002; “Effects of Atrial Fibrillation on Morbidity and Mortality in Patients with End Stage Renal Disease on Maintenance Hemodialysis” presented at the American Society of Nephrology in November of 2002; Recurrent Torsades De Pointes and Adrenal insufficiency presented in Chest Conference in November of 2002; “Use of Two Dimensional Echocardiography for the Diagnosis and Management of Pulmonary Embolism” published in CHEST: Vol: 120/no.4 (suppl) in October of 2001; “Safety of Antituberculous Treatment in High Risk Groups” published in Chest: Vol: 120/no.4 suppl) in October of 2001; and Validation of Serum LDH as Predictor of Active Disease in AIDS Related Pulmonary Tuberculosis” Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine: Vol 159/no.3 in March of 1999.
